Brett and Katherine met while interning at Lake Avenue Recovery Center in the fall of 2020. Katherine describes their first day as “love at first sight” after meeting her co-intern, “the male intern who kind of looked like Ken”. On the first day of the job, Katherine and Brett were given an office the size of a small closet, forcing them to get to know one another very well. Katherine’s internship was only the first semester, so she was finished in December. Brett, like the kind and respectful gentleman he is, waited until they were no longer co-workers to finally ask Katherine out.
A few months into their relationship, Brett introduced Katherine to his daughter Julia, who was five years old at the time. Over the years, Katherine has developed a deep love for Julia and cherishes the blended family they’ve built together.

Eventually, Katherine and Brett went on their first weekend getaway. Katherine wanted to share one of her favorite spots with Brett, the Omni Mount Washington Resort. Brett was in awe the second they arrived onto the resort grounds. They spent the weekend horseback riding, golfing, and getting a couples massage at the spa at the resort. This amazing weekend was the first of many unforgettable memories the two have made together. Their most recent trip was to Naples, FL in June 2024, where Brett planned a surprise date with a boat ride to a private beach where he proposed to Katherine.

Brett and Katherine currently live in Acton, MA with Julia, and their one year old golden retriever, Summer.
